Privacy
Your data, plainly.
The short version
- • Your financial data — transactions, budgets, goals, tax returns, SIN/SSN — stays on your device. We never see it.
- • The website collects your email only when you give it to us (to send a key, join a waitlist, or reply to you).
- • Site analytics are anonymous and aggregate. No cookies, no trackers — which is why there is no cookie banner.
- • We never sell personal information. Ever.
What stays on your device
Finly is local-first. Everything you put into the app — accounts, transactions, budgets, goals, investment activity, tax filings, and identifiers like your SIN or SSN — is stored on your own computer or phone and processed there. It is not uploaded to us, and we have no way to read it. In the free tier, occasional ads never use your financial data.
Optional sync is end-to-end encrypted
If you turn on sync between your devices, an encrypted copy of your data relays through our server. It is encrypted on your device with a key derived from your recovery key, which we never receive — the server stores ciphertext it cannot decrypt. You can delete the server copy yourself at any time: Settings → Sync → Delete server copy.
What we collect when you interact with us
When you request a key, join a waitlist, sign in by email, or contact us, we collect what you type: your email address and, if you provide it, your name and message. We use it to deliver your license key, sign you in (one-time codes are stored hashed and expire in minutes), remember which Terms version you accepted, keep a record of your license (email, plan, expiry) and device activations (platform only), answer you, and send renewal notices.
That is the complete list. We do not collect your browsing history, contacts, location, or anything from inside the app.
Analytics without cookies
The website uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts visits with anonymous, aggregated signals — no cookies, no cross-site tracking, and no way for us to identify or re-identify you. Button-click counters (like downloads) contain no personal data. Because nothing tracks you, there is nothing to consent to — hence no cookie banner.
Service providers
We use a small set of processors, each receiving only what it needs: Vercel (website hosting and anonymous analytics), Render (our license server), Brevo (sending the emails you request), Web3Forms (relaying feedback forms), and GitHub (hosting downloads). We never sell or rent personal information to anyone.
Retention
Sign-in codes expire within minutes and are deleted on use. License records are kept while your license is active plus a reasonable period for renewals and support. Encrypted sync data is kept until you disable sync and ask us to remove it. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to help you.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you (your email, license, and waitlist records) at any time — email hello@finlyfin.com and we will act within 30 days. Finly Finance is operated by OpenGammaInc (Canada) and follows PIPEDA and applicable US state privacy laws.
Children
Finly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
